With that said, here are a few tips to improve your chances of getting an interview and ultimately getting hired at CPUsage or any other company you apply at. Tip # 1: Don’t name your resume file “resume” Over the past 2 days, I have added 6 files in my downloads folder all titled “resume.” This alone drops you from the running. I...

Having some fun in the CPUsage office

Posted by on Apr 17, 2012 in Press | 0 comments

We are lucky at CPUsage to have such a beautiful, fun office for our headquarters in Portland. Lease rates are reasonable so we selected a great space we can grow into over the next 12 months. This means we have some extra square footage right now so we like to offer it up for use by local user groups and entrepreneurs. One of the users groups that has taken us up on the offer to use our space is PDX Girl Geek Dinners. PDX Girl Geek Dinners is one of the newest chapters of an international organization that encourages women in the technology...

Computing at CERN

Posted by on Mar 2, 2012 in Industry | 0 comments

One of my favorite technology and startup blogs, GigaOm, wrote a great piece today on CERN and how they plan to use cloud computing to support the physicists and other scientists that are conducting some of the most advanced research in the world. Through the article, we learn that CERN currently uses some massive compute resources, and they are hungry for more! The Helix Nebula Science Cloud aims to bring enough firepower to solve very hard problems and deal with tons of data churned out by the second. As an example of the size of the task,...

Since then, we’ve had a few other entrepreneurs ask us for information on the various forms of investments and their terms. An increasingly popular investment vehicle for early stage companies is the convertible note. As a way to help share the knowledge that others helped us gain, here is some information on convertible notes and important terms. Before reading on, please...

CPUsage and Your Computer’s Electricity Consumption

Posted by on Dec 3, 2011 in Computer Owners | 0 comments

A few people have asked us about how CPUsage will effect their energy bill, so we thought we’d share the details with everyone here on our blog. As you probably already know, CPUsage utilizes your computer’s processing power when you are not. An on-but-idle computer uses electricity. An on-but-actively-used computer uses more electricity. Installing CPUsage software on your computer will likely increase the total electricity usage of your computer. That increase, however, is negligible. Using information we obtained from Dell, one of the...
